The very delicate lines of the new Progress side-by-side game guns actually disguise the same extraordinarily strong action breeching of the Progress side-by-side express rifle, complete with the exclusive Chapuis Armes double parallel lump arrangement. New engraving adorns the highly refined, redesigned action. High tensile strength all-steel action, scalloped and sculpted. Design engraving of english-style bouquets with game birds scenes on both action faces and bottom. Double parallel lumps breeching. Blitz-type battery, double triggers. Straight english-style stock and splinter forend in AA fancy walnut (extractor versions) or AAA fancy walnut (ejector versions) with hand-rubbed oil finish, checkered walnut buttplate. Shipped in a plastic gun case with Chapuis Armes logotype. Fixed chokes barrels.The solid Progress action offers double parallel barrel lumps and a massive, vault-like sliding bolt for unheard-of longevity of the breeching system. This allows for the placement of hammer-actuated ejectors to automatically expel any spent paper- or plastic-tubed casing neatly and reliably. A new barrel design has been adopted starting in 2006 in order to fit the tubes with internal interchangeable choke tubes certified for steel shot. Barrels are soldered to a straight filler band. Their internal profiles comply with CIP high performance steel shot regulations. The Saint-Etienne national Proofhouse conducts proofing and stamps barrels with the stylised « fleur de lys » proof mark that attests of conformity. In gunmaking, one cannot improvise design. The result is elegant, slim looking barrels. Many professional gunsmiths have to look twice to discern the presence of the screw-on choke tubes. Perfect balancing results in an incredibly fast-mounting gun.
