Hopkins & Allen Arms Company was a US firearms manufacturing company based in Norwich, Connecticut that was founded in 1868 by Charles W. Allen, Charles A. Converse, Horace Briggs, Samuel S. Hopkins and Charles W. Hopkins. Their headquarters was at Norwich, Connecticut. At the peak of their production Hopkins & Allen Arms Company manufactured 40,000 firearms a year. Hopkins & Allen manufactured Merwin Hubert revolvers, a variety of spur trigger, hinge framed double-action revolvers in .22, .32, and .38 calibers with trade names such as ACME, American Eagle, Blue Jacket, Captain Jack, Chichester, Defender, Dictator,Imperial Arms Co., Monarch, Mountain Eagle, Ranger, Tower's Police Safety, Universal, and XL. Company filed for bankruptcy in 1916. This model on the picture was owned by Patrick Floyd "Pat" Garrett (June 5, 1850 – February 29, 1908) who was an American Old West lawman, bartender, and customs agent who was best known for killing Billy the Kid.
