Remington R4-C
The Remington R4 is Remington's version of the M4 / M16 rifle series, produced in part out of spite after legal action by Colt cost Remington a contract to produce 24,000 M4A1 Carbines for the US Army in 2012. Following the failure of this contract (due to the US Army awarding the full order for 120,000 rifles to FN Herstal rather than Colt or Remington), Remington were awarded a major contract to supply 50,000 R4 rifles to the Philippine Army, as a replacement for their stocks of Cold War-vintage M16s. There are four main variants: the compact "C" with a 7-inch barrel, the 11.5-inch "E" entry carbine, the standard 14.5-inch carbine, and a 20-inch rifle version. A gas piston rifle developed from the R4 (which uses direct impingement just like the M16 / M4 series), the Remington R5 RGP, was also unveiled in 2012.
