Nagant 1893 Norwegian Contract

The Norwegian variant of the Nagant revolver was approved on June 23, 1893 as M / 1893. The revolvers delivered to the Norwegian Army were produced by Fabrique d'armes Émile et Léon Nagant in Liége in Belgium and by Husqvarna Vapenfabrikks Aktiebolag in Sweden. Those revolver were manufactured and deliver to the Norwegian Army in the period 1894-1901. A total of 12865 Nagant revolvers were acquired for the Army. Of these, 465 are delivered from Husqvarna. The Nagants who were acquired were inspected by the Norwegian control officers Jacob Maximilian Gran Paaske (stamped MP), Ole Adolf Julsrud (stamped OAJ) and Bjarne Cranner (stamped BC). There are also revolvers stamped with crowned N. The pistons are located on the left side of the frame in front of the barrel. Nagant revolvers made in Belgium are marked with "LETTERED NAGANT" on the frame's left side in front of the barrel. The mark may be horizontal or vertical. The first Nagant revolvers made in Sweden are stamped "HUSQVARNA", while the last 115 only have serial numbers and the Bjrne Cranners brand. Below the factory mark you will find the serial number and below this there is usually the control officer mark. The revolvers were controlled by Jacob Maximilian Gran Paaske (stamped MP), Ole Adolf Julsrud and Bjarne Cranner (stamped BC) or Prlt Nandrup (stamped with crowned N).
